Can I avoid retrieving Gmail's All Mail section in Modest
I like having an integrated email client on my N810 for the sake of good new message notifications, so have set up Modest to do this via IMAP. The trouble is I use Gmail!
As a result, I have literally tens of thousands of messages. To even things out, I have them all archived instead of in the inbox. However, if I so much as glance at the All Mail folder, Modest starts downloading. The headers alone would kill the thing, which is confirmed when Modest eventually crashes having gathered less than a tenth of them. I noticed an option to set the retrieval limit, which I put to 20. However, that does not seem to do anything with regards to even the inbox; it still tries to pull in everything that exists. (On the bright side, I have discovered that if I move a message to All Mail, it is properly "archived"...) Does that Retrieval limit really not work? Is there a way I can tell Modest not to download from a particular remote folder, while still automatically updating others? Thanks! |

I was doing all this a while ago, so it is possible that things have been resolved in newer versions, but based on your post, it seems like the main problem I was having (the thousands of msgs making Modest unusable) is still there. There have probably been a bunch of discussions about this issue on this forum, so I suggest that you search for "Modest" and see what you find. |
