libxpm4 wont install in diablo
It says unable to install libxpm4, incompatible application package.
Any idea? Also I have a problem with the Ur-quan masters. Even if I place the content into media/mmc2/uqm/content/packages, it won't load, saying the content is in the wrong place. Thanks! |

Re: libxpm4 wont install in diablo
Apparently many Chinook specific Python libraries can't be installed while running Diablo. A Diablo Python package is not ready yet.

I installed it successfully, and haven't seen anything out of the ordinary so far. But of course, you might want to wait for a Diablo version to be sure. |
Re: libxpm4 wont install in diablo
thanks it worked, although it gives me a strange error msg I don't understand in Xterm.

Re: libxpm4 wont install in diablo
OK, stupid newbie here, attempting to install libxpm4.
I've got an N810 with Diablo. I need libxpm4 in order to install xkbd. On my N810, I use the browser to go to http://www.gronmayer.com/it/ I click the OS2008 button, type libxpm into the search box and click "Search" It shows two entries, one for "Maemo Chinook" and the other for "Maemo diablo/sdk". I click the green "click to install!" arrow associated with Diablo. The application manager launches, it tells me it is searching for updates, and then sits there. "Maemo diablo/sdk" appears to have been added to the application manager's list of repositories. However, libxpm4 does not appear to have been downloaded. Specifically, if I try to install xkbd, it tells me it cannot install because libxpm4 is absent. Please have pity on a clueless newbie and tell me what I am doing wrong. |
Re: libxpm4 wont install in diablo
Try with apt-get install libxpm4 in xterm. It should be in main repo.
Or directly from here: http://repository.maemo.org/pool/dia...e/libx/libxpm/ |
Re: libxpm4 wont install in diablo
Thank you for your help, but it appears that it just ain't my day.
I went to http://repository.maemo.org/pool/dia...e/libx/libxpm/ and clicked on libxpm4_3.5.6-2osso1_armel.deb Blasted application manager informed me that it could not install it because it was an "incompatible application." Usually there is a "click for more details" button in the dialog, but it was absent from this dialog. OS2008 version 4.2008.30-1 is Diablo, is it not? That's what my tablet's control panel about product applet tells me. I'm not sure what else could be causing the problem. |
Re: libxpm4 wont install in diablo
Yeah, some application manager precautions - should be installed in red pill mode or through apt-get. In red pill you will probably see the package directly in app manager. Don't forget to switch it off after that.

Re: libxpm4 wont install in diablo
Thanks! Red pill did the trick.
I probably should have done sudo apt-get, but I didn't feel like messing with xterm. Thanks again |
