application manager: selecting an application catalogue
The application manager has a place to select a web address for the application catalogue.
Application manager:tools:Application catalogue selecting new gives the following options web address distribution (currently set to mistral) components (currently set to user) enabled (a checkbox) Do we know any addresses for this? Update: On the maemo.org 2006 site http://maemo.org/maemowiki/ApplicationCatalog2006 FBreader gives a valid address http://only.mawhrin.net/fbreader/maemo keep the other values as their defaults. it worked like a charm. remember to install both packages. As more sites become available post them here. |
oh man... that's SO sweet! :D It's like apt-get on the 770!
Thanks for the link howard, I'll have to keep on the lookout for more repositories. Sounds like the GPE PIM apps will have a repository soon, but not yet. I'm just keeping the url in my list until it starts working ;): http://www.kernelconcepts.de/~fuchs/nokia770/ex_2006/ |
Apparently it is apt-get. If you open the log after a failed attempt to connect it
says that you may want to run an apt-get update to fix the problem. Thanks for the link brad. |
Here's another one I saw mentioned in another thread:
Repository : http://repository.maemo.org Distribution : mistral-beta Component : free EDIT: This one has gaim! EDIT2: or... not |
and of course don't forget http://gnuite.com:8080/nokia770 for maemo mapper
|
ok, here's the one with gaim in it, courtesy of Coolty and maemo-hackers.org:

Are there any repositories with more than 1 or 2 packages? Whats the use of a package manager, when i have to add a own "link" for every package.
On my Desktop linux (ubuntu) theres a package-manager with hundreds (thousands??) of packages to install. Why is there no repository for N770 with all (at least all FREE) packages. Maybe a repositorymanager would be a great idea. This could mangae lists of packagelists for the packagemanager. |

Maybe Maemo Garage will develop it's own repository, including all applications in the Garage. That would definitely make my life easier. :) |
