SIP: Network error

My various SIP services work great when I'm at home, but at the office I cannot seem to connect on my n800. I have a SIP phone running on my laptop in the office and that works fine, so I know the port is not blocked. The only thing I have to go on is the message "Network error" from rtcomm. The status icon simply blinks between green and red and shows that I am disconnected. Is there any way to get some more details on this error message? I'm having a hard time debugging with so little information.

Thanks!

Just wondering, is you laptop connection in the office also wireless or ethernet?

Re: SIP: Network error

Just tried over wireless and it works great. I'm using "SIP Communicator" and was able to call my work phone from my laptop just fine.

I'm generally having problems with the networking on my n800. I'm connecting via TLS using a personal certificate that I imported. The first annoying thing is that I need to type my password each time I connect. After I do that I'm able to browse the web just fine, but other apps seem to give me problems. The Canola YouTube plugin gives me connection errors, rtccomm doesn't work at all yet Skype seems to login just fine. The email client also cannot connect.

What am I doing wrong? Is this a problem with my connectivity settings?

Re: SIP: Network error

Pretty much. I installed the OS but used the network installer to do so. They've got so many hooks into this thing it's hard to say exactly what's going on.

According to the wireless properties I'm connected via Security Type= WPA-Enterprise and Encryption Type=TKIP

Re: SIP: Network error

It is very likely that the laptop has access and security permissions based on your AD login on their network. Try installing a VPN client on your n800 and using your login for that

So, something like VPNC? I installed vpncgui but I have no idea how to configure it! Where am I supposed to find all the information needed to create a new profile? Or, is vpnc not at all what I'm supposed to be using?

Sorry if these are dumb questions!

Re: SIP: Network error

VPNC isnt really what you need, I believe there is an openVPN client. I havent toyed around too much with the vpn clients on the tablets yet
