Problems with iphone 3g....

http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/18/i...ne-week-later/

This shows that even the mighty apple which is widely regarded as the greatest company(by some) has problems when it comes to wide scale spread!

Even nokia had problems during firmware updates with the repositories and stuff like that......and everyone had something bad to say about nokia..... but i guess apple is not that good either.

Apple has always stuck to its hardware and provided software on it. It has always priced its products exorbitantly, thereby giving access to the the elite..... but with the spread of the iphone it is clear that when it is widespread qualtiy control is a different ball game altogether.

Now if only people understand that apple is just a normal company..... not some god send one.

Sorry to disagree on this. Nokia firmware demand no way is comparable to Apple's first day demand for the iphone 3g registries. I don't think I was in line to get my N8x0 like those people either.

Give credit when credit is due! Not in this case!

I think sachin007 point still holds. Apple wasn't prepared for the demand just like Nokia wasn't. They are not omnipotent, just a company like any other company capable of errors. They just have a fan base that is more willing to forgive time after time.

If OS2008 were perfect, I think the gloating would have a platform to stand on. 1 million sold in a weekend, and slight hiccups on the App Store versus under a million N810's sold, and a huge issue with the Canola 2.0 release, and the other Maemo repository problems.

Face it. Neither platform has performed perfectly.

Apple is as fallible as Nokia. Nothing else really matters; it's just fanboyism from hereon.

at least outwardly they forgive. but if the help forum and blogs are any indication, they are a demanding group ;)

i guess they cling to that underdog status that they had during the early 90s...

Re: Problems with iphone 3g....

I really don't think anything going on with Nokia IT is COMPARABLY even close...1 million in the first weekend w/ 10 million app downloads...sorry guys, we're just not there yet :)

I HAD an iPhone and own too many Apple computers (seriously, too many...)

And now I'm trying to run OpenSuse w/ Maemo SDK and use my IT for everything I can...

Why?

Because once you're in Apple, you're in...Hardware, Software, .Mac (Mobile me , whatever) and now iPods and iPhones...

It was the reason I left Windows when I started college, it's the same reason I am trying to leave Apple now...Freedom of choice...what I want to use, when I want it...

So tired of not having a feature until they are good and ready, and then acting like they invented the wheel...they simply polish the wheel...Free BSD, Linux Distros and hackers create the wheel...

Everything from iPhone Hacking is slowly getting incorporated into the phone...it's like Fedora for RedHat, or Opensuse for SLED...

But don't get me wrong, it's a solid platform...Im just at a point where breaking stuff is fun...

just my .02...sorry

Do you think Nokia sold millions of N800s the first day?
I wish they did!

For Nokia it is just a simple downloading unlike Apple. Nokia needs a bigger server and with a high speed access. Sometimes I think they still have a i386 running as a server somewhere and it is connecting to a ISDN link.

I'm saying it's relative. I do a lot of roll out planning for my job and they failed on capacity planning. If you have x phones at the retail locations and some sales expectation you plan accordingly. Someone dropped the ball. I don't care if they sold 10 million in the first minute.

Agreed on this. But my point was: for Apple it was planning error, for Nokia was not planning error but lacking of customer support. Apple might have rectified their problems; Nokia has not!

BTW, I have no ipods, iphones and I like my N800s.
