Verizon Hispeed data....
being that my wife is pregnant i want her to have a cell phone...
we went an looked at them the other day and me being the gadget nerd fell in love with the LG Dare. but she wants something simple... so my compromise is ill get her a simple phone but it has to have bluetooth (dont think many phones DONT have this) and Hi Speed data ( i think verizons fastest is EVDO Rev A).. i was looking online today and found the Moto W755 for $20 bucks it has everything i need and it appears to be a simple phone; her one and only demand... haha does anyone have any experience with this phone paired to a N800? was it fast? is there a better choice? |
Re: Verizon Hispeed data....
Most Motorolas can use DUN since the V710/E815 from many years ago. It's just a matter of dialing to #777 or #DIALUP. Other than the true smartphones, I think the Dare is the only Rev.A phone, but I might be wrong (everything else being Rev.0, of course).
I get around 500 kbps down / 100 kbps up on an LG enV2 and had also used an LG Chocolate and Motorola E815 with similar results. |
Re: Verizon Hispeed data....
that sounds good... the chocolate is a nice higher end basic phone...
i might look into that one... |
Re: Verizon Hispeed data....
be very careful - verizon has been turning off the ability to DUN without paying for the service there are many topics on this over at howardforums
the mere discussion of how to dun @howardforums will get you a 7 day lockout of the site google is your friend- |
Re: Verizon Hispeed data....
wow i had no idea... what a crock of sh*t...
what about other carriers... att, sprint? |
Re: Verizon Hispeed data....
I haven't heard of anyone getting charged or terminated for DUN for ages.

Additionally it seems that his coverage has been fairly good where we travel (Yakima, WA, Seattle, WA & Bryant Station, TX recently). |
Re: Verizon Hispeed data....
As far as mobile data networks go i'd say sprint is still the best, most of their cheaper phones don't have the dun option though. I believe the centro is the cheapest that can do BT dun without the need for the PAM plan, but that does require a $30 program. as far as simple phones that can do bt dun it's a pretty limited market as that is usually a feature most carriers only allow on smartphones
- as for verizon they have a wider variety of phones that will do BT dun but that generally requires a rather pricey plan or a hack |
