Maemo extras offline? or not..?
Here's how I have the catalog details setup..
Catalog Name: maemo Extras ~ chinook Web Address: http://repository.maemo.org/extras/ Distributions: chinook Components: free non-free Catalog Name: maemo Extras ~ diablo Web Address: http://repository.maemo.org/extras/ Distributions: Components: free non-free However both will refuse to refresh. Jeez when things go bad they really go bad. (I'm trying to reinstall apps on my internal flash memory so next time my SD card corrupts I won't have to reinstall everything when I clone it... if I get the bloody SD card partitions fixed. |
Re: Maemo extras offline? or not..?
Not offline, some weirdness with the Packages list. . . .

Re: Maemo extras offline? or not..?
Thanks, I thought that was kinda weird since I could access it from my desktop's browser.

Re: Maemo extras offline? or not..?
I'm getting this problem too on both my N800 and N810 (and they're "clean", ie flashed with no additional apps installed). It says "Maemo Extras - failed to refresh" when I look at the catalogue list in the Application Manager, and all the extras apps are missing from the installable list.
If I click on the Maemo Extras catalogue name, it has an error message below it saying "Sub-process gzip returned an error code (1)". Earlier on I had exactly the same problem with the "Nokia catalogue" and "Nokia catalogue (3rd party software)" repos too, though they now seem to be working. |
Re: Maemo extras offline? or not..?

Re: Maemo extras offline? or not..?
Issue has been fixed; this workaround is now not needed anymore!
A possible work-around only for Diablo (but if some of the most knowledgeable people around here finds that it's a complete non-sense, I'll retract this post): - go to application manager - main menu -> application catalogue - select "maemo Extras" and click on the edit button - fill the (by default empty) field "Distribution" with "4.1" (without quotes) - click OK - wait for the refresh to complete and there you have maemo extras - Once the situation with maemo-extras is fixed, I would suggest to go back and remove the "4.1" value, in order to get back to the default values. Some technicalities: I noticed that http://repository.maemo.org/extras/d...el/Packages.gz was OK, unlike the one in http://repository.maemo.org/extras/d...el/Packages.gz The files are almost identical: the one from the 4.1 directory is missing a package (Barrage), but otherwise no differences. I hope this will help! PS: if this work-around is not completely non-sensical, does it make sense to add a note to bug #3502 about it? PS2: I suspect that this workaround can also be applied for Chinook: replace 4.1 by 4.0, and also for earlier releases of ITOS, but I don't have those versions anymore on my device, so I really cannot test... |
Re: Maemo extras offline? or not..?
It's weird that this problem affected all the default repos, but now it only affects extras. What made the problem go away for the other repos?

Re: Maemo extras offline? or not..?
Thanks lorelei !
And 4.0 does indeed give you the chinook repos. Finally I can play with Xournal... Hope it is like Newton Notes. BTW, I'm new here and I can't find the "Thanks" button, but lorelei sure has mine. |
