Boingo-Mobile has Released an Update for Diablo
It looks like Boingo Mobile has an update for Diablo (version 1.1.0007_armel.deb). Go to this page for the update http://mobile.boingo.com/download/cl...hp?client=n810 and select Diablo.

Re: Boingo-Mobile has Released an Update for Diablo
Hmm... maybe this is why I've had trouble connecting lately! Thanks, I'll try it.
By the way, if you do contact Boingo support, be sure to specify if you need help with a MOBILE (ie for a small mobile device, like the N810 deal) account. I went through 2 back and forth emails of "We don't have an account for you on file" until I finally called and was told that regular customer support doesn't have access to mobile device accounts, and won't even see that your account exists! (Um, isn't the whole point of Boingo to be "mobile," even if you're using a laptop? I'm just sayin' . . . ) |
Re: Boingo-Mobile has Released an Update for Diablo
There is different pricing for Boingo (laptops) and mobile Boingo since they assume that for mobile Boingo you are using a device that will not be doing a large amount of downloading.

Re: Boingo-Mobile has Released an Update for Diablo
It has worked. But if the link for "supported devices" shows the parameter language other than English (lang=en), like in my case:
http://mobile.boingo.com/support/sup...curr=USD#nokia (language=Portuguese) the download page is not shown. I tried also lang=de (German), lang=it (Italian) and lang=es (Spanish). For all this languages the problem exist. |

Re: Boingo-Mobile has Released an Update for Diablo
OK, my 3rd Boingo-related post tonight, in the hopes that someone here has some experience with this:
1. Newest application doesn't mention that there was a problem with installation, yet app does NOT connect at wireless hotspots since upgrading to Diabolo? (I know there's a thread on obvious problems installing the new app, but I never had the same error messages they did indicating there was anything wrong with my install. So, I don't know for sure whether a faulty install was actually my problem, other than, ya know, it not working!) :) 2. With the mobile plan, you can NOT log in to boingo without the app. As I've learned with cust. service, Boingo and Boingo Mobile are two separate entities. (Boingo couldn't even find a record of my subscription until I told them it was a mobile account, then they sent me to the other people.) 3. If you're at a Boingo "partner" hotspot (ie not a Boingo hotspot, but one where you can click to connect via your Boingo account user/password) you can't use the tablet because mobile devices can only log in via the app, not manually. Boingo *used* to connect automatically whenever I was in range. I'd be in a bookstore and look down to see that I was just connected to the internet. Now, I get nothing! And, I am paying for this service afterall. Questions: Has anyone made a fuss about this with Boingo about paying for a service that isn't functional? Does ANYONE have a working mobile Boingo connection that just worked with no tweeking after upgrading? If I didn't get the install error messages, could I still actually have the install problem from the other thread? Thanks! I've been lucky enough to have no other issues since upgrading, but not being able to Boingo is frustrating! |
Re: Boingo-Mobile has Released an Update for Diablo
I was having a lot of trouble logging into att-wifi hotspots and into Boingo hotspots but no problems overseas on GANAG hotspots. I made Boingo Support aware of my problems and they for the most part tried to address them.
It was after I upgraded to 4.2008.30-2 and removed Boingo Mobile, then install it from their website did the problem for the most part disappeared. |
Re: Boingo-Mobile has Released an Update for Diablo
OK, thanks. I'll try a complete remove then reinstall and see what happens. I'll also keep an eye out for GANAG networks while I'm in Europe for the next couple of weeks. (I can't remember what it was called in Zurich airport, but GANAG doesn't sound familiar.)
