Two questions: Maemo Mapper Crashes & Repositories borked? (edit: fixed!)
Ok, I've got an N810 that was running Maemo Mapper flawlessly up until a couple days ago. That's when I started tinkering with the GPS, which needless to say, refused to get any kind of lock, period. So I forwent the whole GPS thing and turned it off and just decided to go the old way about loading maps, finding my position, etc. Since then Maemo Mapper has just flat out crashed every time I start it. I open Maemo Mapper, and it immediately closes with no errors or nothing. It just opens, then goes away. Any ideas on that? I've wiped out the maps folder so it has to start over, as well as the .maemo-mapper folder in the user directory and even uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. I got nowhere.
Ok, on to the second question. I recently tried refreshing my repositories and they refuse to refresh. It keeps failing on the Chinook repositories saying "403 forbidden". But I can go up there manually with a web browser and download the packages.tgz files without issue. Any ideas? I'm running the 2007-3 version of the OS. |

What kind of error does it give when you run it from the command line?
and the repository issue has been covered in a bunch of threads lately. |

heavyt: thanks.
josiahg777: Well, I'm not sure. I was tinkering around with reinstalling it again and the dumb thing won't reinstall now. It errors out when trying to install. A repository issue I would suspect. Once I can get it installed again, I'll let you know what error it gives me. EDIT: Hold on. I just found out that my mmc2 drive is marked read only for some reason. WTH!? I'm gonna have to dig a bit, but I think this may be my problem. |
Re: Two questions: Maemo Mapper Crashes & Repositories borked?
Bingo! Problem solved. The read only filesystem issue tipped me off to what was actually wrong. Apparently the file system on mmc2 got hosed, so I looked up a cheat trick to get at the drive, then ran a chkdsk on it and it fixed the drive, and interestingly enough, Maemo Mapper is now working. :D
Now if they can just fix the stupid repositories issue, I'll be darned happy. Oh yeah, and I didn't see any threads that mentioned about the repository issues. If someone could PM me some links so I can watch the progress, that'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Hm.... Well, on the bright side, I've discovered that I need to change the error handling when trying to write to a read-only drive. Thanks! :)

Re: Two questions: Maemo Mapper Crashes & Repositories borked?
I'm having an issue with MaemoMapper for chinook when using Diablo on n810.
Under OS2008 it was ok, but under Diablo it couldn't connect to GPS successfuly. It starts the unit (icon in tray is being shown) but after a while (30-sec?) it's searching for it again. The icon vanishes and is started again. I've got A-GPS addon installed. With default MAP software it's working OK, with other (Roadmap) also but they are specifically for Diablo(?). |

Ok, I've been up and down the forums looking for threads that specifically talk about the issues with the repositories, but I can't find any, and I'm still having issues refreshing my repositories. If anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
