OS 2005 v1.1 WiFi problems
My Nokia 770 doesn't seem to be working with any wifi-
I'm running OS 2005 v1.1, with the following apps: aircrack'ng bash dropbear-key dropbear-server (may not have installed this properly) load-plugin maemo-gaim maemo-mapper padplus (crashes while opening) misc-utils openssh osso-xterm all software is from within the last two weeks the only customization I have done is to enable root, and usb-host, nothing special, just following the tutorials The problem seems to be twofold: 1) The classic problem with the router being simply 0.0.0.0 2) What looks like a perfectly good connection, but still can't connect to the net (either using straight IP address or DNS) Everything looks good using ifconfig... I've tried connecting to all sorts of access points, but no success so far... Any ideas, suggestions, or whatever would be appreciated. I'd try reflashing the software, but I'm traveling through Europe and only have access to Internet cafes (Also, sorry for the brief message because of this...) Thanks! Dave |
You should not be using installing both dropbear and openssh on the same device. Choose just one. This can cause conflict. Are you using DHCP or static IP? Can you ping the Nokia from other PC on the network? What does "/sbin/ifconfig wlan0" show?

Thanks for the advice... I wondered if it was something like that. Unfortunately, I uninstalled both (using the installer app) and nothing changed. (Are the uninstalls not that clean? I haven't worked with debian packages before, but from what I know, that shouldn't be a problem...)
Another thing I noticed today was that ifconfig showed both a wlan0 and wlan0:1.... Any idea what is up with that? I've tried both static and dhcp, no success... I'd be inclined to say the hardware is bad, but it is successfully getting an IP address using dhcp. Everything looks normal in ifconfig other than about half of the Rx packets are "errors" |
So I finally reset all the settings (under the control panel pull down menu), which magically fixed everything...
