Problem websites

Hi,

I'm running OS2008 on my N800 and recently have been unable to connect to various websites, for example www.internettablettalk.com, others websites for example www.google.com or www.bbc.co.uk are fine. It seems to be mostly forums based sites I'm struggling with. If I put in the address and hit return, the status bar just says 'connecting' and stays that way.

Any advice ?

Cheers.

I am writing to you from my NIT and having no problems. I would guess you could have a problem with the network you are connected to or a problem with your network settings. I am connected to my office wireless network and they are a lot slower and congested then when I am at home.

I had similar probles with certain sites (most google sites: Docs was terrible, gmail intermittent. Zoho was spotty) but a flash of diablo solved every issue. Prior to that, nothing I did helped.

Re: Problem websites

Research done.....

I've updated to Diablo now.

Still big problems.

Make no changes on the n800 apart from WiFi connection settings.

Selecting from default list of websites....

try facebook - no problem
try wayfinder - couldn't access
try wikipedia - no problem
try wayfinder again - no problem
try facebook again - couldn't access
try google - no problem
try facebook - no problem
try wayfinder - couldn't access
etc.....

Is this simply the n800 struggling with my network ?
Is there anyway for testing throughput ?

For the first 6 months my n800 has been fine via my network, now it's not....

Any clues/hints ?

Re: Problem websites

murts,
Which version of OS2007 did you run before you switched to OS2008? It could be that you weren't having problems as long as you were running an OS version without certain access point power saving features.. and your router isn't power-saving friendly. If that's the case, look up the power saving configuration options in the control panel (I can't be more precise than that because I don't run OS2008 myself), and change the settings and see if it makes a difference.

Re: Problem websites

TA-t3, interesting idea, it would seem to be around the time I swapped to OS2008 these sort of problems started occuring.
I've no idea what version of OS2007 I had mind.

As for solving this problem......
'power saving configuration' in the control panel ?
I'm assuming you are on about the control panel on the n800, from there I've become stuck.

Can anyone help ?

Re: Problem websites

murts,

Look for 'Power Savings Off' selection in Advanced Setting for your setup for your wifi connection.
