Videos: Handbrake and the Nokia 770
 
For those with Nokia 770s already, can someone verify if Handbrake converted movies will work well with the 770? I'm wondering if handbrake can convert movies in 800x480.

I'll try and get to this for tonight. I do not currently have a movie file to test it with here.

Edit: Just by looking at the steps, I see them choosing MPEG-4, which I believe uses a mp4 file extension, which does not lpay on the device. However, I see in the tutorial that H.264 video is an option, and those do play. So I'll try and convert a clip tonight using h264 and see how it runs. I was able to get an mp4 to play by simply changing the extension to mpg and of course lost audio, but video played fine.

Doh, just realized they dont have a PC version of the app, and I only have XP...

Aren't there PC apps that can do such conversions/formats? Knowing which of those are useful would be a help too.

QuckTime Pro as Video Format Converter
 
If you've got a copy of QuickTime Pro for Mac or Win/XP, you can open several different video formats (e.g., AVI, MPEG1-2) and save your existing video clips as MPEG clips using various codecs (H.264, MPG4).

At US$29, its a very cheap solution that works well too.

there is a lot of free solutions

more precisely, on linux you can encode mp4 with mencoder (tutorial here)

Thanks for that link, but oy! I think I'll use a 5G iPod for video.

Wake me up again when someone has done a drag-and-drop or point-and-lick automatic solution. Command lines are like soooo DOS.
