Bootlooping after flashing own rootfs
Hey there,
i'm trying to to play around with my Nokia 770. What I did was I downloaded and flashed the "maemo 1.1 developer rootfs" from http://maemo.org/downloads/d1.php But when I try to create my own rootfs image as described in howto this tutorial, i flash it and the device won't boot any more. it starts but stops and reboots when the boot process bar made it half the way to the right. This even happens if i try to flash the "maemo 2.0 beta developer root filesystem" (except the bar is stopping at another position). Could someone tell me what's wrong? Wokring under debian testing to flash and modify on the host pc. Thx in advance |
There may be many things wrong. As you are freely switching 1.1 and 2.0 and don't say anything about kernel or initfs I'd suppose you have wrong kernel or initfs (at least in one of those cases)
try 1.1 rootfs with kernel and initfs from 2005 firmware image (kernel 2.6.12.3) and 2.0 only with initfs and kernel from 2.0 image (kernel 2.6.16). kernel, initfs and rootfs have tight dependancies (initfs has kernel modules and rootfs might require specific kernel features) Also there is some flasher setting to disable the watchdog that does automatic reboots in case of problems. You may also need R&D mode enabled (I'm not sure about this but it won't harm) |
