[Canola] phantom albums and artists
 

I cleaned up the tags on some of the music on my sd card, and have not been able to get rid of the old artist or album listings. I have tried everything short of a reinstall. Using the latest beta on n810 with Diablo. The old headings still show up under artist and album with no songs in them. How can I get rid of them?

Also, when I pull the card and reinstall, then restart the app., it sits updating the library forever. I have to close Canola manually and restart it to get in

The only way I've gotten rid of it was to delete the canola.db (database file) and let Canola create a new one.

install the emelfm2 filemanager. go into x term and assuming you have becomeroot installed type sudo gainroot then type emelfm2 , this will launch the filemanager with root privileges, go to /home/user/.canola and delete the canola.db file thats all there is to it :)

Or if you don't want to install emelfm2 you can, assuming becomeroot is installed, type sudo gainroot then type rm /home/user/.canola/canola.db to do the same thing.

You don't even have to be root.

Thanks, that seems to have done it. They really need to fix this so that it automatically updates the DB accurately and faster

Yeah, I haven't figured out how to fix it any other way. Even forcing a rescan doesn't help.

Laughing: just to let you know we are deeply trying to find and fix the re-scan problem. It seems that it's quite fragile as it doesn't work most of time. forcing users to delete the database. : / sorry for that but your complaint makes us more aware of the need to fix it :/

it's also nice that I bookmarked youtube videos that disappear the next time I use the app. what's the purpose of bookmarking???
