Is it possible to install meamo sdk on windows?
if yes plz let me the procedure.

It can be done with vmware. Search around, there's info on vmware images.

There are also some coLinux based distributions that work inside Windows. Search around.

That reminds me. Can OS2008 be run via VirtualBox? IE, for the purpose of testing things? I'd like to do some dev work on OS2008, but doing it on a tablet is too slow.

Yes, the SDK can be run in VirtualBox. In fact, I cannot get the VMware 0.7 images working on VMware while they do work with VirtualBox (on Linux/x86-64). VirtualBox is able to read the VMware disk image format (ie. maemo-sdk-0.7.vmx).

Hmm, interesting. Where's the VMX file at? Is it over at the VirtualBox site?

The VMX file is the disk image you're downloading. Its usually rarred or zipped. Such image is just an image of an OS you can load in a VM which is able to read its format. These images (sometimes called 'appliances') can be found everywhere on the Internet. The one for Maemo SDK for VMware (also works on VirtualBox OSE 1.6.3 on Linux/x86-64) can be found on earlier mentioned URL. I don't know if it will work with an other VirtualBox port or version. In theory, it should.

I just tried the version 6 of the SDK and it booted, but I had to hack the xorg file to get it to load. Now, my next question is this. What do I do with it? I've never worked with an SDK like this, so I'm not sure how to get the "virtual maemo" if you will so that I can install and test maemo apps.

SDK is meant to be used for software development like porting, programming, testing. The NIT is an embeded device, and relatively slow for tasks such as compiling. Hence, you'd want to run your software on a faster computer. The VMware image gives you a Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Linux/x86 installation with the latest Maemo SDK already installed. The latter allows you to get a Diablo/x86 or Diablo/ARM development envornment.

For VirtualBox, while there are hardware accelerator drivers such as vmware VirtualBox uses a different one. You can always use vesa. Edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf and then you can run the command specified on top of that config.
