I'm no expert, but the following did the job for me with the newer image-file "http://qole.maemobox.org/debian-chroot-img-final.tar.bz2"

Visit http://qole.maemobox.org with the web-browser of the N810 (or N800 respectively).

Click on "easy-deb-chroot-0.6-2_armel.deb" or enter "http://qole.maemobox.org/easy-deb-chroot-0.6-2_armel.deb" into the address-bar of the browser to start with. With the newer image-file you should probably choose the newer version "http://qole.maemobox.org/easy-deb-chroot-0.9-1_armel.deb"

The browser then asks whether to download or open the file with the program-manager. When I choose "open" the installation startet and after a while i had a working debian chroot. :-)

i give up, i cannot work out what i have to do and now the debian chroot is requesting a password on two differnet devices before it will do anything. i've spent far two long on this so i have to give up.... but i will be back.

I'd guess you might be missing the sudoers tweak somehow; maybe if you installed rootsh after Debian it could cause that...

not that i'm spending anymore time [today] trying to work it out, only one of the 2 tablets had rootsh installed, fot somereason the download keeps failing on the n800, yet both machines on my 3rd and 4th attempt at downloading the 'big file' now requsest a password. Bear in mind they did noton the first and second download? i can only presume that the big file has been password protectected but no one has bothered to inform people. that's why i'm reluctanlty giving up.

That's impossible, so that's not what's happening.

As for what is happening, it's imposssible to be sure because you're not posting the exact messages you see on-screen, but I strongly suspect sudo is prompting because you do not have sudoers correct. If one of them has had nothing else installed that messes with sudoers, it would sound like that change never got made to start with.

I do have a few of the n800 still in boxes 'fresh ones' could someone please write a quick step by step [beginers] guide to every thing i need to install to get it working and even though i should be doing something else i'll spend another day playing with my tablet.

The 0.9 version is not official, yet; it has a couple of bugs, that's why no posts about it.

Due to some clumsy scripts in my older package, you need to uninstall the old one before installing, and then make sure you reboot before installing the new one.

Please be patient for a day or two...
