just for fun i attached a n810 to a bike
 

it worked very well, bluetooth connection to the phone/modem, i managed to get quite a lot of work done ehile out and about.

I'll try the same feat with my N800 at the mouth of the Tyne. It usually stays at home whilst I run sports tracker on my Nokia 6120

I keep mine in a pocket while cycling, so i'm trying to make an audio navigation help that does not require internet connexion to find route (and that guide you by voice).

It s slow, it eats lots of memory, it does not automatically compute new route if you get far away from the planned one, it tends to give you route information a bit too late, audio is difficult to understand, but it s fun.

You consider cyborg, from xkcd? I've built some necessary gpsd stuff (gpspipe) and hacked it up to suit my taste better (results here); I've used it cycling, although more for fun on a route I already know than as an actual navigational aid...

(Edit: I do realize it doesn't do what you're doing, and I guess you're probably too far along for it to be of interest as a base; so consider it merely an interesting detail rather than a suggestion.)

Huhu, that was how it worked with sayhoo too before i realised openstreetmap gave enough information to get a full graph of street.

The direction based trick was cool, but did not work well in a city with so many one way street than Paris.

Digging around, i saw pyroute and pyrender and try to make something similar.
