pcmag article wimax N810
PCmag review of the wimax N810. It sort of came off as a bitter / sweet review and the wimax performance didn't help it any. My response to these sort of views are you either get it or you don't, but rarely do these people spend enough quality time on the products they review to understand why there's such a following and for God sake Wimax is still wearing diapers, so let's not jump all over it until the bugs have been worked out

A lot of bad reporting there (price, apps/abilities, etc..), but some good (the dead spot thing, etc).

Hmm, speedtest.net is quite heavy on Flash and add to that the WiMAX driver's CPU load (probably there is such load)... I wouldn't believe these stats.

but I still feel that its primary appeal is to Linux geeks, since it lacks some other key apps and has a relatively high price. Also, WiMAX isn't widely available yet. Today, most people will likely settle on an iPhone 3G, instead. If not, Nokia's own excellent E71, ..... The iPhone 3G and Nokia E71 are more expensive and have a smaller screen and the latter one a keyboard designed for mouse legs rather than human fingers. Comparison (Europe): N810 (non-wimax) EUR 320 Nokia E71 EUR 400 iPhone EUR 600 (if available without rate plan and simlock) Nokia N96 EUR 700 |
