Nit apps that work well in portraid screen

There is simila threads about debian apps etc. so i tought it would be nice to talk about apps that work nice with xrandr screen rotation.

Mytube works well except mplayer does not show videos correctly.

Microb works great but some pages look awful. Google looks good.

Accounts works, but contact names are difficult to see.

RSS-reader Works great

Maemo-mapper works great

GIMP in chroot is even better to use in portrait mode, because windows fit better in the nits small screen.

easier way to install the rotation support is with these:

If you're running Diablo, click this: http://mikie.dy.fi/maemo/sliderotate-diablo.install
If you're running Chinook, click this: http://mikie.dy.fi/maemo/rotate.install

RSS reader does not work as well as it used to in Chinook. PageUp and PageDown do not scroll feeds
anymore.

In sliderotatesettings you can make Zoom-buttons to act as PageUp/PageDown which enables you to scroll pages in browser without the touchscreen.

In Chinook you could scroll the feeds with PageUp and PageDown, in Diablo this "bug" seems to be fixed.

I was talking about the rotation done with this method http://sse2.net/rotate/

The rotation method suggested by konttori did not work with me. Because of that PgDown-PgUp thing i lost my + and - buttons in maemo-mapper.

The rotation method i told in my first messge does not provide pgdown and pgup mod at all.

Another map software "Mapper" is also usable in portrait screen.

Exactly why there is a user setting in sliderotatesettings, that you would have found in Extras

Some weeks ago i tried slide rotate and even if i dasabed the pgup/pgdown thing maemo-mapper did not work correctly.

Or, are these two rotating methods just the same, but the management is different?

I ditched screen rotate after using it a few months. I constantly had to switch back and forth to landcape mode to change some setting or type (I have a n800). Being able to hold the tablet vertically while browsing is nice, but fit-to-width, or my css hacks don't work well with most three column websites this way.

Exactly.

I used (up till this last update; I'm not sure if sliderotate is updated yet) sliderotate in conjunction with advanced-backlight; I had sliderotate remapping +/- to pageup/down, and advanced-backlight doesn't, so I'd use whichever one suited the key mapping I was after. Worked quite nicely.

Yes it is:

http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...&postcount=223

Current version is 4.2008-36-5.28 where .28 is the sliderotate version prefixed with the current SSU.
