Disappearing connections
I have a problem.
After installing version 1.2006.26-8 I can't get a stable wifi connection anymore. It works once after flashing and sometimes another time after a reboot. When I keep open the connection dialog the found networks disappear before my eyes? Anyone having the same problem? Thanks, Trumpetto |
yes.. I have the same problem at home with my Netgear access point but not at work with my Linksys one (running OpenWRT). I use the same wireless settings (same sid, same security settings) in both locations.

Similar problem...
I too have had symptoms.... sometimes the internet just stops working but the phone is still showing a connection to my 770.
I tried to load an internet radio station and the bar took 2 minutes to populate the buffer. Then, out of the blue on another try, it populated almost instantly and began playing. But on another try later, it paused for so long I thought I should disconnect my connection and restart it. This caused the device to lock up and then after 30 seconds, it rebooted hard. It's worked fine for the most part, yes, something is buggy somewhere. |
Just upgraded the wife's 770 to 2006 rev.
Same probs - no connect to wlan. Even dropped encryption and went ssid broadcast - nothing. Picks up the neighbours networks of course but no connects anywhere. Looks like I need to go back a rev. PITA as I was looking forward to getting jobs to do @ home, at work over IM or even VOIP ;o) Damian |
I've noticed two problems with WiFi on the 2006 OS:
1.) The connection problems I had at work are back. With the initial 2005 OS I couldn't connect to my office WLAN except with a link-local IP address. This was fixed with the most recent 2005 OS (the one that actually came out in 2006). Now it's back again in both the 2006 Beta and Final releases. What this means is that I can't use it from work and I can't reliably expect it to work anywhere where there is "noisy" WLAN traffic. 2.) Occasionally my WLAN just stops working. It still reports as connected, but nothing happens when I try to pull something up in the browser. It's possible this could be a problem with my Linksys router and DD-WRT firmware, dropping the connection. I have a problem like this with my Windows laptop. But on the 770, a reboot often seems to solve the problem, and losing the connection occasionally seems to be related to hard crashes (automatic reboot). |

Fortunately Talisman 1.2RC3 seems quite stable and supports "Client bridged" mode which I am using in preference to WDS, and my 770 connection is now solid and reliable. |
Have you guys tried changing the channel on your router? I run my WRTSL54GS on channel 11 with no problems.

Do the happy reactions in here use the new 2006 system? Trumpetto |
In my case, yes. I upgraded two days ago and my home Wifi seems to work just like before (Netgear 4g with WPA). Maybe a little quicker to connect even.
Haven't had the chance to test the other networks I have in my list (friends & family) but they all imported OK from my 2005 backup. |
battery problem connected?
Since my bad network connection I have the problem that my battery runs out overnight. Can this be related? Can it be the 770 keeps searching for a connection or something like that?
The other strange(?) thing in my setup is that I use airport express and Mac at home and have no phone connected to my 770. All these thing where no problem before the 2006 update ... Trumpetto |
