[KDE] which one KDE better use?...
after some time I returned to idea install and use KDE on my N810
first attempt was rather experimental - KDE was useless because of it's VERY slow speed and huge dialogs but now I see different alternatives - KDE4, several KDE 3.5.x deb versions I wonder - which one better try first process of installation consumes some time but I don't like loose time for a piece of software to just try it and uninstall anybody already tried different KDE's? what works faster and is more reliable? does KDE4 support national alphabets, N810 hard keyboard and mouse rightclick? what about KDE3.5v4? if I'll install KDE3.5v4 then will I able use Hildon apps together with KDE apps? what about KDE4? which one KDE4 or 3.5 looks better on small N810 screen? are dialogs fit well to screen? shortly - can anybody help choose right KDE?... |
Re: which one KDE better use?...
For now, penguinbaits kde is best choise, it is fast and easy to install.
I have tried PB:s KDE and KDE 4.1.3 on maemo, almost every maemo app can be used in both kde:s, nokias browser is stupid, it works only with matchbox window manager, se you need to do some tricks to make it work. I also have tried KDE 4.1 using debian chroot, (easy debian) it was soo cool when i first got it working. Afterwards i feel it was slow and buggy. BTW forget about kde 4 if you really want to use kde as your primary desktop environment. For working KDE, penguinbaits kde is the best for now. First you have to clone your ITOS (internet tablet os) to minimum 2gb sd card. Find out HERE how to do it easily. To install kde, check out this thread |
Re: which one KDE better use?...
I think it would be rally good if one make video with KDE4
I can't tell "it is too slow" while I can't see it KDE3 doesn't have Plasma... but I like it |
Re: which one KDE better use?...
i have made video where i ran kde4 in chroot, kde 4 in maemo is a bit faster than kde 4 in debian chroot, but not wery much. http://personal.inet.fi/surf/deweb/evo/kde.3gp
