Nokia 770/800/810 LinuxMCE Alarm Keypad 24/7 Power
Does anyone use their Nokia 770/800/810 non stop 24/7 like a server? I am thinking of using a couple of these as orbiters for linuxmce used as touchscreen alarm keypads in the house mounted in the entryway and upstairs master bedroom. It would be a cheap alternative to the high priced ademco touchscreens etc... and would have ALOT more functionality. I am just worried about having them running 24/7 on AC power. Any experiences or ideas are greatly appreciated.

My n800 has been for months on AC and hasn't explosed yet. It's an internet radio source, connected to a t-amp and a couple of mosscade 502 :-)

Not nearly 24/7 ... maybe 8-10/6 ... maybe more ... I leave mine plugged in at work and when at home ... its often plugged in for 24-48 hr stretches at home. I use it for personal email, private work logs/notes, web (almost constantly tethered via BT or WiFi).
The only trouble I've had is those persistent messages about saving power  ... OK, there was once when I plugged it in and it refused to charge ... but a reboot solved that (has not happened since). Ken [edit] oh, yeah ... N810 |

If i rememeber right it's advisable to remove the battery when your device is consantly plugged in, as otherwise there will be a constant load/drain cycle which after some time kills the battery due to material exhaustion. But I maybe wrong there.
