N800 as a radio frequency detector?
Hi, I know that the N800 can be used to listen to radio if you have the earphones plugged in. But I'm interested is something that can detect if there is radio noise in a particular channel. I'm and aeromodelist (sp? one that plays with radio controlled airplanes) and I do FPV(*), so it's very useful for me to know if there is noise in the channel my radio controller (72890 Hz) and video setup (2.4 - 2.5 Ghz) work.
So ¿anyone know of a way to do that? (*): first person view, you put a small camera on the plane and transmit the video to ground, so you can see what the camera see while you fly, that way you can send the plane several kilometres from you (4 to 6km quite common) |

Well the FM bands are 87.5 - 108.0 MHz, which is above your controller frequency, and the Wifi bands are ~2.4GHz, which is in the video channel you're using.
How you'd work out the noise level on a given channel, I've no idea I'm afraid. |

The FM radio chip works only on the FM bands. This is a hardware limitation you can't get around by software.

basically, one is very skittish about non-locked radios, they can all to fast become a jammer...
that, and the differing use of frequencies in different nations, is why for example wifi drivers can be a pain... |
