how to associate certain files with certain programs by default?
 

for example I want to associate chm files with fbreader( when I tap on chm files in the file manager I want fbreader to open on default ) and pdf files with evince ( not the pdf reader provided by the os although I want both programs installed ), how would I go about doing that on the latest diablo edition?

You need a program called dbus-switchboard.

ok ive installed it but when i tap on pdf files it still opens with the builtin pdf reader, opening chm files work fine, how do i solve this?

on the defaults tab, double-click the 'application/pdf' mime type and then save or exit dbus-switchboard
