GAIM "Loading buddy list" *POOF*

GAIM *poofs* on me right after it attempts to load the buddy list. The only apps I've installed since I last used it successfully were Dates and Minimo. I've tried completely wiping all GAIM components (locales, data, and protocols) and trying again and same thing. It also retained all of my user information and left it in the custom application browser folder.

Any ideas?

Sorry to bump this, I've been without GAIM for a few weeks now. Where is the stored information left behind after an uninstall? If I can delete it and get a completely fresh install then it might do the trick.

I'm guessing your account info is still lingering?

There's a slew of stuff in /home/user/.gaim
I suspect if you removed that entire directory, you should be clear to go for a "new" install

:) Hi,
I am not too knowledgeable about this, but isnt ' GAIM ' something that is like ' Trillian ' (or something similar to that name) ? This is to say that Gaim by itself is not a Chat client but it is something that allows us to use multiple chat clients like AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo Messenger, and IRC and all that good stuff. I say this ( I admit that I sure can be mistaken) because long time ago I used Trillian to chat in Yahoo, and MSN Messenger. So installing Trillian allows one to get into other Chats that are supported in it. I think that when you uninstall Trillian, ( GAIM , here) the stored information, ( if GAIM saves it) should be within the files created by the specific Chat that you used.
