Orb Video Streaming HOWTO posted
http://thoughtfix.blogspot.com/2006/...-770-with.html
In that post are both YouTube videos of it in action and a link to a Nokia 770 formatted video (by popular request). I'm having a lot of fun with it but it's not yet perfect. I'll post tweaks as I figure them out. |
Well done ThoughtFix, I was hoping to be able to do the same with TVersity but do date the peculiarities of the Linux install on the Nokia 770 (& my level of understanding?) and the interaction with the built in Audio and video players seems to be delaying progress. :(
Anyway I have ORB installed so would like to compare and contrast capabilities with TVersity and Slimserver. Nice post in your blog, ThoughtFix. MikeL |
Thanks Mike. A lot of my R&D work at my day job is now Windows based, mostly in Windows Media Services so having an MCE box was a bit of a necessity. Besides - it works. However, integration with the 770 was impossible before Orb. And now - it just rocks.

Just to confirm that my experiences when using ORB are similar to Thoughtfix. I am able to play numerous format types of AV stored on my local PC streamed to the Nokia 770 as RM and played on the built in Video player. Off on my holidays now but will try to post more on my experiences upon my return if anyone is interested.
Its great to be able to stream rather than download when we can, as this cuts out all the time transferring items using either the USB or via Wi-Fi and then taking up large quantities of our limited storage space on the Nokia 770 even with a large 1-2Gb RS-MMC installed. |
After i had heard about orb, i wanted to download it but when i tried to download it. it said an error like THIS ONLY ACCEPTS WINDOWS 2000 , WINDOWS xp or something but i do have windows xp. i just don't understand why it said it needs i don't have the following systems . but all iam trying to say is is there a problem? do i need to download anything ?
