Something's going on with the N810's price... I've found a few places (via shopbot.ca) in Canada with really reasonable (sub-$300) prices on the N810... After tax and shipping, the cheapest is only $330... That suggests that we're going to see the new Nokia sooner rather than later...

qole,
might be other more global factors.
everything is coming down in price.

This is a really dramatic drop in price... But I hope you're right, lcuk, for the simple reason that I hope Nokia issues their beta SDK at least a month before releasing the hardware...

not necessarily, US$ and GB£ are very weak. we've found that the expected price reductions in computer hardware hasn't happened and some items like hard drives are going up in price!

The reason they're cheap is that they are used. $195 is about the going price for a used n810 on ebay. Additionally, justmywireless doesn't actually have any in stock.

buy.com had new ones for $220 shipped...30% cheaper than most places

Yeah, it is reminiscent of N800 prices before the N810 launch. Of course, I didn't take notes, but I think there were some such lowered prices before the announcement was known of publically.

I'm under no illusion that we'll see an actual release very soon, but a public announcement of the next device is possible before too long. One can only hope...

The prices started dropping in many different shops right around the same time as the announcement came out (17 October). I know this because I purchased an N800 two days before all the prices started freefalling, and I had to endure a great deal of hassle while I returned my first N800 unopened (they refused to lower their price to match the other stores) and re-order it from another shop.

If the prices started dropping before the announcement, they started dropping very shortly before the announcement, as in days before.

UPDATE:

According to my e-mail archives, prices for the N800 started dropping around October 5th, so they started dropping about two weeks before the announcement..

OOOH EXCITING!
