it looks ok enuf but only a few pages pop up at a time thereby requiring an always on net connection to read a full book (most project guten stuff) and thereby really no easy way to "download a book" to read on a flight or somewhere where there is no net connection (like a subway)

i suspect that its done that way to avoid issues with the copyright holders...

All the books I saw are out of copyright; it's the same selection one would get from Project Gutenberg.

Yes, but I think it's safe to assume that google will roll out a kindle-like pay-per-view/book service.

I tried books.google.com/m on the N800 but all I got is a blank screen. Anyone has the same problem?

that's because the url is http://books.google.com/googlebooks/mobile/

books.google.com/booksearch/mobile is the url, iirc...
