please dont rotate my pictures
Hi,
i have some PDFs that are scanned images and the N770 runs out of memory on all of them (i have 64GB swap on the mmc). No big deal i thought and resized the pictures and copied those on the N770 instead of a big PDF. But now the Picture-Viewer auto-rotates them because they are bigger in heigth than in width (of course, it's scanned A4-Pages) and i cant find a option anywhere to turn that "feature" off. 480 pixels is not sufficient for the width of a page, you can't read that. Any idea what i could do now? |
it's annoying me too... it would be perfect for reading comics.
|
Btw, is the source available of all those apps ???
|
Quick and dirty fix, change the canvas size in Photoshop (or whatever photo edit program) to make the picture slightly wider than high, then zoom to 1:1 in the Nokia 770 picture viewer, and voila. Make the original picture 800 pixels wide, and use white or black as a background color to have the extra space clean. It should hardly make any difference kilobyte-wise, since JPEG compresses clean 1 color areas well.

i will try that but i fear that i will have to manually center every pic i view.
but then i could just expand the pic to the right... |
You can use a tool like IrFanView (Windows based) to do a batch job on them. It's a small tool, a simple executable (no DLLs, etc) and full of photoshop-like functionality. Great for cropping, sharpening, rotating, scaling, etc.
I do agree though, not a nice solution. |
for viewing comics, i make a html gallery with no margin and just a next previous button and it's ok in opera. but it could be better with a comic reader...
|
interesting, do you have a script that would put a bunch of images into a html-site?
|
Hey i found a good solution.
Google Picasa can create webpages from images, including links to next/prev images and with different layouts. I also autoresizes whatever images you throw at it to a selection of webbrowser-friendly resolutions. its available for both windows and linux and works great :-) |
irfanview can produce html gallery. But with an image viewer it would be easier...
yesterday, i tried comix http://comix.sourceforge.net/ version 2.7. it's working but too slow PS: (comix version 3.4 is not working, requires pygtk 2.8) |
