A whole new device...
Wow! I have been reading through the forums since I got my N810 a month ago, but the amount of information here is amazing...
I just ran across the "Hacking the N810" site...I haven't made it all the way through it, but just his link to http://gronmayer.com/it, and the treasure trove of repositories there. Most of the stuff I have been wishing for since I had my NIT is in there, and a bunch of things that I hadn't even considered. I do have a few questions, if I might. 1. Are these repos safe? I saw several that had what looked like utf-8 names in their titles... 2. Some of the others say they are for Chinook (this is OS2007?) Will it work on my diablo install? This is great. I have a list of apps that I want (or think I want), lots of security apps (aircrack, etc), a fwe games, flite, etc. I need to go through and see how much space I have and how many packages I want to get rid of. My next step will be to dual boot from the internal card and get KDE running on it. Is there a working KDE4 package for the NIT? Thanks, --vr |
Re: A whole new device...
Be extra careful when using external repositories. You can easily fall into dependency hell. Chinook is OS2008 and mostly safe, but still rather use Diablo repos.

Unless you absolutely positively need something out of one of those repositories, stick to Extras.

Xournal is in Extras and it's quite nice. :)
Now if only someone ported LaTeX...... ;) |
