Announce: galculator port
Here's yet another calculator program. :)
galculator is a GTK 2 based calculator with ordinary notation/reverse polish notation, a formula entry mode, different number bases (DEC, HEX, OCT, BIN) and different units of angular measure (DEG, RAD, GRAD). http://static.maemo.org/static/6/60b...x480_scrot.png http://static.maemo.org/static/7/7fd...x480_scrot.png http://static.maemo.org/style_maemo2...tton_small.png Was pretty lucky with this, galculator has hildon support upstream (now why their configure script doesn't have an option to enable it is beyond me...) so I just fixed up the packaging for Maemo, added fullscreen (thanks Yerga!) & enabled tap and hold. |
Re: Announce: galculator port
Nice! RPN functionality without the gratuitous HP or TI rendering. :)

Re: Announce: galculator port
Thanks, this ia great program. Much more responsive than Math Jinni. RPN is an added bonus. Best calculator program I've used on this platform. Finger friendly big buttons, responsive, and the right amount of bells and whistles.

Agreed... but don't toggle the "Show Menu Bar" feature off. I did, and now I can't get a menu back. |
Re: Announce: galculator port
Maybe because in Maemo there's no menubar. :)

Re: Announce: galculator port
Lol, yeah, sorry. If it wasn't in glade; I'd have removed that option but glade confuses me. :(
It isn't hard to get back though - just tap and hold at the white space above AC. |
Re: Announce: galculator port
What's the empty box on top good for? And
the formula entry field should be optional. Thanks for the port anyway :-). |
Re: Announce: galculator port
SlideRule is more powerful and also provides both the traditional notation and RPN; however it has annoying limitations, e.g. no dup, and since both notation systems are active at the same time, this means that one needs to type Enter after the operation.

Re: Announce: galculator port
SlideRule's UI isn't finger friendly at all. If I'm going to pull out the stylus, I might as well use x48 or ATI85. galculator is very finger friendly and responsive.
