digger - 80's remake

I searched around and didnt find this already available so I cobbled this one up today...

Digger

A dig-dug like (but not a clone) game from 1983, mine for the gold and gems while keeping away from (or shooting) the monsters hunting you through the mine shafts...

Arrow keys - move
Center button - fires (I had this on N810 Return, but then remembered this doesnt work on the N800 and really you dont use it much)
Fullscreen - toggles fullscreen
+ - Accelerate (speeds up)
- - Brakes (slows down)
Esc - quits current game and from menu screen exits program

On the N810
M - toggles Music on and off
S - toggles Sound effects on and off
Space Bar - pauses
N - toggles 1 or 2 players

The original remake is located at http://www.digger.org/index.html

you can get the Maemo port from my website: http://www.n8ftl.com/maemo/digger.tar.gz
Untar from / and it installs to /home/user and shows up in extras.

If you have an N810 and HATE the center fire button, grab digger.bin and put it in /home/user/ (make it executable) and then the return key is fire...

tobiasj, I could just hug you. :D (*does happy dance*)

I remember playing this game when I was a kid. I can't even tell you how many hundreds of dollars I spent in the arcades on the original digdug game!!

nice port but how BAD is the N810 dpad for gaming? :)
Now I want try to test some alternative control using the touch screen: directional arrows on the screen in portrait mode and hardware buttons for the rest

personally as long as I dont have to use dpad center for fire it isn't too bad. I like the N800 dpad better, but I just have never been able to wrap my head around touch controls for games like this. I have tried a couple of the emulators that use the touch screen for extra buttons and such but I just can NOT make it work..

Feel free to try anything you want, I will post the ported source to my website this weekend when I get a second.

it seem can have some chance to be usefull for something:
Ill try to adapt the thing to some game ill found around and see how bad it work on the real deal :)

it have a 50x50 active zone; I didnt set any limit around. There are some possible tweaks (bigger the distance faster the movements, decide to stop the movements when no pressure or a gesture interface active on the entire surface...)

(I used the modules from another things im working on so there is a lot of garbage around, but the test should work on tablets and on pc).

could it be made so we N810 users can just assign whatever keyboard controls we want to use for the game?

Yeah, I'm with Munky261 on this one. Find a way to keymap if you can.

Would love to have this working in N900. Is that possible?
