Gaim on Nokia 770?
 

I know there has been a thousound threads like this, but I just got my Nokia 770 and need to have Gaim. I have read a few threads about Gaim on the 770. Is is most of the time http://maemo-hackers.org/wiki/MaemoGaim . But can somebody help me with this? Og give me a few tips? I got the 2006 version.

Mini-instruction: go to http://www.maemo.org/maemowiki/ApplicationRepositories and find the entry that says maemo-gaim and enter that info in your Application Manager as a new repository, go online and refresh the application lists and then just mark Gaim and whatever protocols you want (ICQ, MSN etc) for download and installation and poof, you're IM:ing.

Yes, I go to http://maemo-hackers.org/apt/ but which file should I download?

Have you considered using the Yahoo, ICQ, MSN, AIM contact migration to Google Talk? It works ..but it is a little messy.

Yes I have. I think it is very had. I will just start with Gaim if I understand it.

go to system -> aplication manager
enter a new repository.
Here you enter:
adress: http://maemo-hackers.org/apt/
Distribution: mistral
Components: main

Connect with your 770 to the internet and refresh the aplicatin list.

Now you download:
maemo-gaim
maemo-gaim-data
maemo-gaim-locale-[whatever language you want to use]
maemo-gaim-protocol-[protocols you want to use]

thats it.

hey guys just got the 770 i have been trying to install gaim ive read the thread on how to do it but when i go to down load from maemo hackers i click on it but nothing trys to downloading what am i doing wrong?

Note to developers if they read this thread: I have not been able to get meanwhile (sametime) to work properly. It flat refuses to connect to our server. Is it unfinished?

I think you also need download the correct protocol. I am able to connect to irc servers, msn, and yahoo servers.
