Desktop and Taskbar crash
Several times a day my destop applets disappear along with the currently installed task bar items which change back to the factory settings.
So far I've re-flashed to the latest version of Diablo, uninstalled apps and I've narrowed it down to the built in email which now currently has all accounts disabled which seems to have cured it for now. Anyone else had this problem - all suggestions gratefully received. |
Re: Desktop and Taskbar crash
When my tablet contantly had desktop crashes, I usually found one of the desktop applets to be the one at fault. What desktop applets do you have running?
|
Re: Desktop and Taskbar crash
mine frequently does, running;
advanced applet, large clock hours & minutes, advanced backlight/sound, default connection and battery. side bar; tear bookmarks, personal menu and applications. home; clock, internet radio, and personal launcher |
Re: Desktop and Taskbar crash
Update:
Still OK after deleting email accounts, but not sure if this is the real problem? Perhaps another application is in conflict with email? On advice given above I'll reinstate the email accounts (which should bring the problem back) and start to delete desktop applets one by one to see if I can narrow it down more. Right now I'm running advanced backlight, load applet, large clock hours & minutes, and on the desktop I've got clock, internet radio omweather, rss feed and personal menu. |
Re: Desktop and Taskbar crash
advanced backlight, load app, large status bar clock, personal launcher, om weather, gpe status
I will usually get reset once every 1-2 days when using modest to check email. claws (if left running) seems to do the same thing. mnotify as well. If I don't have any of those running, I don't see the resets. I didn't get many resets until I started using modest. Stopped using, resets stopped. Left claws running overnight, got a reset. Not running overnight, no resets. Just installed mnotify last night, reset this morning. Seems to be a common theme here. |

its the "large clock hours & minutes" my n810 has been running fine for 6 months....i just installed that clock and mu desktop and task bar crashes.. ....is there a fix for this???? |
Re: Desktop and Taskbar crash
I've seen this as well and have no idea what's causing it. My N810 still works and will clear the problem when running various aps.

Re: Desktop and Taskbar crash
Same here. I think it has to do with notifications. Last time it happened I just added an item to my calendar, switched back to the desktop to see GPE summary update and, boom, there it went.

Re: Desktop and Taskbar crash
I'm the OP and I'm still having the 'reset' problem, still not really pinned down the cause either. Sometimes when it gets overly busy with 'Mapper' when downloading a hybrid map for example, it will also cause a reset.
Apart from re-instating the applets from the desktop I've found it's only necessary to launch the 'Panels' window from the control panel and then click OK, nothing else required (checking boxes ect) Nothings perfect and in fact it's the only complaint I have:D |
