Saving programs to the memory card?
I've installed Maemo Mapper and thought it would be a good idea to save a copy to the memory card in case I needed to re-install the program without internet access.
Disconnecting from the internet and clicking the link launches Application Manager and then asks me to select a connection to the internet? How do I save a copy of the program itself or am I just launching it wrong? Thanks |
Re: Saving programs to the memory card?
When you download an application through the Application Manager what it's doing is downloading the maemo-mapper deb file (and it dependancies).
You can, instead, just download a deb file e.g. from the diablo extras repository and then when you want to install it you should be able to just launch it with the Application Manager, however if you haven't downloaded the dependancies it will again attempt to connect to the internet. |
Re: Saving programs to the memory card?
Thanks for your reply
I used the 'save' option from the downloads page, is this the same thing? |

Re: Saving programs to the memory card?
Thanks for the reply, I'll give your script a go for mapper and let you know how I got on.

So can I assume that I could use the save option from the download pages along with any dependancys I needed and get the same result? |

Re: Saving programs to the memory card?
OK I'll use the script that qwerty12 kindly provided, but can anyone explain what the 'save' option would be useful for?
Whilst I'm here could anyone also explain how I navigate the index/parent directory's pages in the repository, I've clicked on the link in post 1 but it's as clear as mud to me! Sorry for all these newbie questions but I'm willing to learn:) |
