Skyfire for the Tablets?
I don't know if you guys have heard of Skyfire (probably, since most of the people in this forum are technology-oriented, most of you have).
If you haven't, Skyfire is a browser that runs on Windows Mobile, Symbian, & Blackberrys (soon -- a version for them in in the works). The best part about Skyfire is that it allows flash, etc. to be viewed on mobile devices by first converting them to a Skyfire based format (meaning flash does not have to be installed to view a flash video, etc.). Since Nokia shows no indication of updating the flash version for the internet tablet family (and since the organization behind the Skyfire browser seems like it has the server capacity to serve up the mobile-optimized webpages), I would really like to see a version of Skyfire for linux/the tablets. What do you guys think? Is it possible? I emailed the people behind Skyfire with a request, so we'll see what happens (I'm not anticipating that much will happen, I'm afraid :(). |

Re: Skyfire for the Tablets?
Our tablets do flash, but they're not going to support the latest flash versions. (not to mention, going to any flash-intensive website/video, even if it is supported, puts a *lot* of strain on the processor -- resulting in stuttering video, etc.).
I would be willing to have all of: mobile device identification number and device identifier, web requests, Internet Protocol ("IP") address, browser type, browser language, referring / exit pages and URLs, platform type, number of clicks, domain names, landing pages, pages viewed and the order of those pages, features used in the Skyfire mobile application, the number of shared pages and referrals related to Skyfire, the amount of time spent on particular web pages, the dates and times of your requests, and cookies that may uniquely identify your device to web sites you visited. recorded if I could only watch flash video (on sites like Hulu). If I don't want them to track some of my information, I'll simply switch back to microB, fennec, midori, or tear. |
