Did they kill the battery???
 

Hello to all
Seems like this N800 was plugged in charging for 6 months when I got it.
Talk puppy rescue.
Now all it will do if flash to the NOKIA splash screen, then blink off.
When hooked up to a windows box the USB icon will come on for 3 to 5 seconds.When this happens it is seen to be in Update mode by the windows box.It cycles in this fashion.
I ordered a new battery to see if that cures the problem.
Ideas, suggestions?

Probably. I've just ordered a new one for my n800 cuz I used it on charge too much. Heat degrades lithium- batteries, not recharging cycles. That's why I remove my laptop batteries if they're plugged in.

I'd try the battery first, and possibly just plugging in the unit and running it straight off power to start. If that doesn't work, reflash it.
