IAC slider MID running Android
4.8" screen, side slider, some buttons on the face. Kinda blocky, but otherwise looks interesting. Wonder how hard it'd be to put Ubuntu-MID or Mer on it :-)

Re: IAC slider MID running Android
Call me silly, but that UI looks an awful lot like Android, which means that an Ubuntu Mid should in theory be possible. But they're using a Freescale processor, apparently do to it's excellent multimedia processing power (can't say for myself, but that's what they claim) you'd need to ensure that the Linux kernel at least supported that processor. The only exception might be if it has some kind of Arm based instruction set.
Initial examination of the Freescale website hints that it might already be supported in Linux, but I can't find any confirmation of that from the Linux kernel camp. So I can't say one way or the other on this. But I do like the device. It's a little clunky, but I suspect that we're just seeing a development prototype and they'll have that cleaned up before the final version. |

The article says 4.3", not 4.8".

Well, that's still nearly NIT sized.
