It looks like the SMS app has been deleted from the browser based gchat now too! can anyone confirm this?

You mean that old SMS Firefox plugin? Yeah, that's been removed... we're talking almost 2 years now.

But you can send to US numbers via Google Mail - it's in Labs - and via Google Voice.

From what i can see - it has been removed from labs.... i had it installed but yesterday i noticed that the 'send sms' option on my contacts list has been removed

do you guys know if it has anything to do with the Google voice at all, i seen this thread and wasn't sure if you guys were talking about it on the tablet or not but now i know. I wasn't even sure if it was just me that was having this issue or if I disabled it on accident from my gmail account, but if you guys here word of any thing please keep me posted.

Well... I have a Google Voice account and it still doesn't show up for me via chat; however my contacts from my Gmail account show up just fine and I can SMS from there.

But not like before... which, until this thread caught me off-guard. I just never really used SMS via GChat like that, but it was there. Not now.
