Built-in SIP apps and Gizmo setup on the 770
I'm interested in setting up Gizmo5 with the built-in SIP applications. (I have Gizmo5 running fine with its own application.) I've seen docs about setting up the 800 and 810, but some of the steps are not achievable with the menu settings available. Anybody set this up with the 770?
(I'm hoping to, one day, use Google Voice for the free dial-in number.) Thanks! |
Re: Built-in SIP apps and Gizmo setup
If you are using OS2008 but not with rtcom, then just use the generic SIP setup. Use your full Gizmo username. should be username@proxy01.sipphone.com.
Then in advanced set outgoing proxy to auto and put just your username and password again under Authentication. You make have to play with the settings a little as you use it. If you want to install rtcom (upgrade your client) got through this post http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...ighlight=rtcom it tells you how to install it. It's tricky. But then you can have MSN, Yahoo and a sipphone (Gizmo) options when adding new accounts. Check also the Wiki to see if theres rtcom instructions. |
Re: Built-in SIP apps and Gizmo setup
Thanks icbolsh! Unfortunately I'm on a 770 with OS2007HE, mainly because it has been reported that Skype and Gizmo5 don't work so well with the 770 and OS2008HE combo.

Maybe people were trying to install the 8x0 version. Gizmo5 versions are device-specific. Even on OS2008HE, it has to be v. 4.0.0.95 or earlier. (Before the latest EDIT, I incorrectly said it had to be 3.0.0.78.) V. 4.0.0.95 is what you get when you select: [Application symbol in lefthand desktop bar] -> Communication -> Gizmo. The chinook repositories contain v. 4.0.0.97, which will not install in the 770. That is what you will get from the application list in App Manager, and installation will fail. |
