Cannot use Ovi Mail SMTP in Modest
 

I have an email address from Ovi Mail and set it up in Modest for IMAP / SMTP use. But it doesn't work. I can only read my emails with IMAP, but I cannot send emails via the Ovi SMTP server.

Do you have any helpful ideas?

Supposedly my passwort is wrong, but it isn't. I use these login data:

Incoming email:
-User name: username@ovi.com
-Password: *****
-Incoming mail server: imap.mail.ovi.com
-Mailbox type: IMAP 4
-Security (ports) SSL
-Port: 993

Outgoing email:
-My email address: username@ovi.com
-User name: username@ovi.com
-Password: *****
-Outgoing mail server: smtp.mail.ovi.com
-Security (ports): SSL
-Port: 465.

I use Modest with Gmail and IMAP. It works fine. I was a little disappointed with the Ovi site because it's designed for Symbian S60 smartphones and doesn't recognize the N810 in it's site setup.

Does running modest with debug/log options (see https://wiki.maemo.org/Bugs:Stock_an...he_mail_server) indicate anything useful?

OK, it did this but something went wrong, I guess. That's my output in the logfile:

process 1517: D-Bus library appears to be incorrectly set up; failed to read machine uuid: Failed to open "/var/lib/dbus/machine-id": No such file or directory See the manual page for dbus-uuidgen to correct this issue. Now suddenly it works for me too. I had a stupid typo in my login name for the SMTP server. After Ovi's .com there was another m. I had never seen it because the window is so small. No idea how it came there.

Thank you very much for your help. Now I can use 3 email addresses in Modest. :)
