When computers are installed IN us, then the whole interface problem will go away. We won't need to see with our eyes, hear with our ears, say with out mouths, or type with our hands. Thoughts will be enough. Communication between people will amount to telepathy and our ability to manage information will grow by orders of magnitude. We won't need to wade through the last 6 emails from Aunt Alice to know she's sad, looking for subtle clues. We'll just feel that she is, just like when we see someone and near-instantly know (or at least think we know) how they're feeling. We'll feel that there is some important news (to us) going on without having to scan the headlines every morning. 2050 aught to see the start of this technology wave. I might live to see it; probably too old to be a part of it though. I'll count myself lucky if I can remember why I went into the kitchen. Then again, maybe there will be something I can install to help with that. Right now, I just want a roll-out/flip-up/projecting screen/keyboard thingy that I can still carry around in my pocket. Yeah, I want a morph phone NOW. And, it better be open-source ;) David... |

Note the big, green smiley. 2050 was kinda "tongue-in-cheek"...
