Can't find some applications after install
Hey Everyone,
Pretty new to the Linux world in general. Aside from my N800 I dabbled with some Ubuntu so I understand the basic idea of repositories and application installs. The issue I have is this: Most programs I install I can find and use in whatever part of the sidebar I pointed them to (extras, tools, etc). Sometimes, I install something and I can't find the thing to run it, but I can find it in my installed applications and delete it if I want. Two examples are Crawl (a text based game) and rdesktop (a client to use windows remote desktop). I'm sure it is likely some menu I just haven't stumbled across yet, but any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks |
Re: Can't find some applications after install
If you can't find installed application from the menu, it's not there :)
Crawl doesn't have menu entry, because it's basically impossible to make it work with default osso-xterm without manual adjustments. So start X Terminal and type crawl to start it. You probably have to change to smaller font. I don't know why rdesktop doesn't have a menu entry. Some programs are actually desktop or toolbar plugins and they are not found from the menu. |
Re: Can't find some applications after install
Thanks, I'll take another look and figure out what exactly that rdesktop application is doing.

Re: Can't find some applications after install
rdesktop is also a command-line application.
pyrdesktop is the gui front-end that you'll find in the menu if you've installed it. |
