Can't find some applications after install

Hey Everyone,
Pretty new to the Linux world in general. Aside from my N800 I dabbled with some Ubuntu so I understand the basic idea of repositories and application installs.

The issue I have is this: Most programs I install I can find and use in whatever part of the sidebar I pointed them to (extras, tools, etc). Sometimes, I install something and I can't find the thing to run it, but I can find it in my installed applications and delete it if I want. Two examples are Crawl (a text based game) and rdesktop (a client to use windows remote desktop).

I'm sure it is likely some menu I just haven't stumbled across yet, but any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

If you can't find installed application from the menu, it's not there :)

Crawl doesn't have menu entry, because it's basically impossible to make it work with default osso-xterm without manual adjustments. So start X Terminal and type crawl to start it. You probably have to change to smaller font.

I don't know why rdesktop doesn't have a menu entry.

Some programs are actually desktop or toolbar plugins and they are not found from the menu.

Thanks, I'll take another look and figure out what exactly that rdesktop application is doing.

rdesktop is also a command-line application.
pyrdesktop is the gui front-end that you'll find in the menu if you've installed it.
