Does anyone here still Telnet?
I basically have been playing Box Poker for the past year but have grown a little tired of dominating all of the BBS servers month after month in this game. :D
http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/2219/...9083100165.png I was wondering if anyone else is as old school as I am and had some good suggestions on trying something new. Anything that's either competitive or cooperative would be great. Cheers! |
Re: Does anyone here still Telnet?
LOL... maybe once or twice a year I find myself needing to telnet into a server or router. Just often enough to forget the attributes. :D

Re: Does anyone here still Telnet?
I'll bet there are very few people on here who know what a BBS is.

Re: Does anyone here still Telnet?
I do daily, but only on my local network. Anything on the internet or outside of my network I use ssh.

Re: Does anyone here still Telnet?
Ofcourse, some routers/switches still require it, and its much quicker than web interface. And there is Telnet over SSL too.

Re: Does anyone here still Telnet?
yes, i do... on my local network (my router exposes only a small subset of configurations in the web interface, so i need telnet to brick it).
one of the mail accounts i have runs on a system that can be entered and configured via telnet. you can make it send a fax or re-route mails or send auto-replies this way. it's a 1990s proprietary platform though that only runs because nobody ever cared to pull the plug, and i don't actively use it any more for messaging purposes... only to play dirty tricks via telnet. ;) |
