How does Google Voice have an unfair advantage? Isn't AT&T the CARRIER? Couldn't AT&T do the SAME THING and even MORE than Google Voice? ...even easier and cheaper?

Well no because AT&T has common carrier rules like ISPs (you can't block service). But Google is not a common carrier.

But I really don't have any sympathy for AT&T.

Of course, now at&t has backed down and letting Skype, etc. work on the iPhone over 3G.
