This may be an old vid, but it's warming to know that OSS Free Software is being pushed ever farther into the consciousness of the collective:

I've not yet watched the video, but I find it funny how Fry is helping to show awareness of GNU despite being a huge Apple fan.

He's not only an Apple fan, he's a technology fan (even geek) in general. In an interview he said something along "there's not a smartphone in existence that I haven't bought". So we should clearly expect him to be a Nokia N900 owner soon.

Not mutually exclusive. You can endorse something without using it herself, and both the reason for endorsing and the reason not using may or may not be valid.

Some people who don't use marihuana endorse the usage, and some people who use heroin don't endorse the usage. Some people endorse freedom of speech for racists, while not agreeing with said racism. Some people use Windows, yet despise it. And so on, and so on.
