IT as Windows SideShow device
1 Attachment(s)
I've been working on an application to turn my N800 into a Windows Sideshow device.
I've currently got Bluetooth communications sorted, and have just about completed the gadget glance page (see screenshot below). Using the application needs nothing more than a Bluetooth connection between your IT and Vista/7 PC. The next step will be handling the actual gadgets (being able to read email, change tracks etc), but I think just the glance page is useful enough for now. Is this the kind of application that you guys would use? Would you like to make any comments or suggestions? Attachment 4270 |
Re: IT as Windows SideShow device
I don't use Vista (or Windows at all) often (though I am planning on replacing Vista with Win 7 on my laptop). But if I was booted into Windows I could see myself using it. :)

Re: IT as Windows SideShow device
Wow this is cool..
I wonder if there's a cross platform, open standard equivalent for such? |
Re: IT as Windows SideShow device
Sure I would, as soon as I get a bluetooth nubbin!
Which I need to stop holding out on, so I can use BlueMaemo too. |
Re: IT as Windows SideShow device
Awesome, mostly if you can get that change tracks thing to work!
If something like this: http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details/221611 works, that would be awesome! |
Re: IT as Windows SideShow device
Thanks for the positive feedback, guys. :)
There's no reason why the WinAmp gadget shouldn't work. I'll test that at sometime. I'll keep working on the app, and hopefully release a proof of concept beta sometime soon. |

I've been working more on this today, making it a bit more stable. it now also monitors battery/charging status.
If anybody is interested in testing this, send me a PM. Currently, there is no dependency checking or anything like that. Just the Python code and needed external files. IT IS NOT READY FOR GENERAL USE, so testers only please. :) Attachment 4271 |
