Does the N900 FM radio from extras-testing play for you?

Hi,

some people reported that they couldn't hear anything from the FM radio application on the N900 or that the driver couldn't even be loaded. Since there are different hardware revisions of the N900 around, I'd like to ask you to answer this poll to see if the problems are revision-related.

Yes and no, device from summit. It doesn't work at all with the bundled headphones, but sort of works with a Nokia WH-700, iff I only push it about 3/4 of the way in. Even then, the audio volume is extremely low and it only comes out of the headset regardless of the app setting.

I have prototype from beginning of September and there is some bug with BT-device, but when the device was working I could use the radio. Only trouble was that it didn't work with Nokia-headphones. When I used Koss or some no-name standard headphones it worked.

I got my phone flashed with new firmware today and I cannot find anymore fm-radio from maemo extras repository. Where to find it?

The voice level was too high in two first versions when using normal 50 % voice level. 7 % was enough

September prototype. I just tried with Nokia headphones from the N810 and it worked but sound was terrible.
A pair of Sennheiser headphones work great, though.

It's in extras-testing. It did not reach extras yet. Extras requires an app to spend at least 10 days of quarantine in testing and receiving a Karma count of at least 10. So please vote, everybody! :)

Thanks, this is a good sign that the summit prototypes have the BCM2048 hardware. Please try some cheap non-Nokia headphones. Low volume seems to be a general problem of Nokia headphones.

Works well with a pair of Sony MDR-EX70 In-ear phones (2002, 80 USD) and a pair of cheap noname in-ears (2008, 20 USD).

One enhancement proposal: when manually selecting a frequency by touching the "freqbar", please round the value to the next 1/10 MHz (e.g. "97.3")
But then - thanks for the quick release!

Great, please select the "Yes, Summit" checkbox in the poll then. :)

Just tested with 1.2009.41-13 maemo release and it worked well. Nokia HS-48, HS-43 and noname cheap (under 5 euros) all worked. But the best was the cheapest noname.

Could it be possible to set MHz numbers over the balk? Or could it be possible to feed the frequency manually with keypad?

Now the volume level was better than in earlier versions. I have to check out the battery usage tomorrow while jogging in the woods.

It seems to work best with Non-Nokia headphones... But, i can still hear some disturbance in the background.

Thanks for the quick work :)
