Nokia PC Suite
 

Does anyone know if the device ships with a desktop side PC Suite? I ask because there is no mention of it being included with what comes in the box here:

I am interested in being able to sync the Calendar and Contacts in the device with my laptop for example. If there is such a thing as a PC Suite, will it work under wine? Also, does anyone know if one can sync with KOrganizer and KMail, or with some other Linux desktop apps?

How do you guys manage that type of data?

Hi, the N900 does not come with the Nokia PCSuite in the box. but you can download the latest (Windows) version from the Nokia site. It does a fine job sync'ing between the N900 and the Outlook calendar, contacts and notes. As to your questions on Linux, I'm sure the are guys in this forun that will be able to give you answer.

I'm pretty sure that PC Suite (or Ovi Suite) won't work at all with Wine. No idea about the sync with other desktop apps (but I'm guessing that the situation isn't ideal there either). Probably easiest way is to sync both device & desktop to web (Google perhaps).

Can you sync the contacts and calendar with Google Apps or GMail?

i've read nokia pc suite will support N900, but not ovi suite although i'm pretty surethat will too in the near future sometime as ovi suite at some point will become the one and only suite

You can use Google's Mail-For-Exchange support to sync Calendar and GMail Contacts. For some reason, it has not been working since yesterday. But I have able to sync my 400 odd contacts and Google calendar quite easily.

GMail support is built-in. Just add it as an Account. easy.

I've asked this a few times in this forum, bit nobody has answered:

Does the mail program and MfE, support Outlook's Colour Categories? I know it supports task follow-up Flags (at least it does on Symbian), but not sure about the Colour Categories for email.

This is really important to me for GTD reasons (Getting Things Done system).

Any day now the support pages will be up for the N900. They should list all PC Suite software compatible with the device (if any). This will answer all of our questions.
