Language setting

Hi,

I am just about to order an N900.

I am english but I live in Germany. I have found a store that will be selling devices with a QWERTY keyboard but I just wanted to know if there are any possible issue with changing the UI language.

It will probably come set to German but I will want to change it to English.

Are there any parts of the OS that won't change to English properly?

Any news on this? I'm pretty much in the same situation...

I'm pretty sure that the onscreen language can be changed to any of the supported languages, on any N900. (That is, you don't need a device bought in Germany to use German language). But someone who has an N900 should probably confirm this for sure.

Everything should definitely work fine (at least it does for me here on the N900).

Confirmed, running German language on a preproduction unit with QWERTY keyboard on a German carrier. And I have all the umlauts on the onscreen keyboard.

Does changing the OS language change the keyboard layout as well? Or can you set them separately? How about hardware keyboard vs. software keyboard?

I'll probably be getting the German version, but want to use it in English with an English keyboard layout (I'll put stickers on there or something)... :)

you define the keyboard layout separately, under settings > text input.

i didn't understand what you meant by "how about hardware keyboard vs software keyboard?".

I meant whether you can change the software keyboard's layout without changing the hardware keyboard's layout :)
